Silver Fox: The Haircut Series Meets the Voice of Kansas City
There's a moment in every good collaboration where you stop thinking about what makes sense on paper and start paying attention to what feels right in the room. Silver Fox started that way. Not with a pitch deck or a brand alignment meeting. With a conversation, a handshake, and two people who both love Kansas City enough to put something real behind it.
Joel Goldberg is one of the most recognizable voices in this city. If you've watched baseball in Kansas City for any stretch of time, you know his voice. You know the cadence. You know the warmth. What you might not know is that Joel is also genuinely curious about what's happening in neighborhoods like ours, about the people building things on blocks that don't always get the camera pointed at them. That curiosity is what brought him to 2010 Vine Street. And that's where Silver Fox was born.
The Haircut Series is our hoppy lineup at Vine Street Brewing. Every beer in it is named after something from the chair: That Box Fade Bro, Jerry Curl Drippin, Roof Gone. Each one carries a little swagger, a little confidence, a little bit of that feeling you get when you walk out of the shop looking right. Silver Fox fits the series perfectly. It's the distinguished cut. The one that says you've been around long enough to know exactly who you are.
Silver Fox is a West Coast pilsner. Crisp up front, clean through the middle, with just enough hop presence to remind you this is still a Haircut Series beer. It doesn't shout. It doesn't need to. It walks in, sits down, and you notice.
We shot a real commercial for this one. Me and Joel, on camera, building the story of this beer the way it deserves to be told. Not a behind-the-scenes reel. Not a cell phone clip. A real spot. When you see it, you'll understand why this release feels different. It looks like something bigger because it is something bigger. It's Vine Street showing that a brewery on this block can stand next to any name in this city and hold its own.
That's always been the point. Not to prove we belong. We already belong. The point is to keep showing people what's possible when you build from a real place with real people. Joel didn't come to Vine Street because someone pitched him a marketing opportunity. He came because he wanted to see what we were doing. He stayed because he believed in it. And now there's a beer with his name on it sitting in our taproom, right next to Jazzman and Maris and every other beer that carries a piece of this neighborhood in its glass.
First pours of Silver Fox go down Saturday, September 5, from noon to 2:00 pm in the upstairs taproom. Pull up early. Come meet Joel. Come try the beer before it hits the taps for everyone else. This is one of those moments where you want to be in the room, not reading about it later.
The Haircut Series keeps growing because we keep finding the right people to sit in the chair. Silver Fox is the latest cut, and it might be the cleanest one yet.
Come see for yourself.
Cheers,
Kemet Coleman
