Open Channel—the powerhouse quintet led by Kansas City trumpeter Nick Hmeljak—takes the patio at Vine Street Brewing for a single release show ahead of their debut album, Alive.
Hmeljak, a recent Charlotte Street Foundation resident, built Open Channel to explore the deep roots of Black American Music from the 1960s to today. Expect original compositions and select standards driven by collective improvisation—exhilarating, melancholic, and dynamic.
