V‑Day Weekend in the Groove Room with Flutienastiness & The Soul Patrol

Valentine’s weekend at Vine Street is supposed to feel like something you chose on purpose.

On Friday, February 13 from 7:00–10:00 pm, we’re turning the Groove Room into a proper listening room for Flutienastiness & The Soul Patrol – a V‑Day Weekend set built on groove, melody, and one of Kansas City’s most important voices on the flute.

Amber “Flutienastiness” Underwood has been doing the work in this city for years – as a performer, bandleader, and educator. She moves between jazz, soul, R&B, gospel, and hip‑hop without breaking a sweat, and you can hear all of that inside this band. When Flutienastiness & The Soul Patrol lock in, it feels less like a background gig and more like KC telling the truth about itself in real time.

For this night, we’re letting the Groove Room do what it was built for: cocktails, low light, and a room full of people who actually listen. The downstairs bar will be running cocktails all night, the kitchen will be open, and we’ll keep the space tight enough that the band and the crowd are sharing the same air instead of shouting over each other.

We’re also building the bar around the music:

  • Afrodisiac will be the featured beer for the night.

  • We’ll be pouring Flutie Flights – a special flight built around Amber’s sound for this show.

  • In the kitchen, expect crispy fried chicken and fries from Vine Street Chicken Co. to sit right next to that Afrodisiac pour – a simple, heavy‑hit pairing for a night that’s about staying put and soaking it in.
