The Liquid Speaks Again: Going Out on the Lash Scores a 94 in Craft Beer & Brewing
When we tell people that Vine Street Brewing is here to pour world-class beer at 18th & Vine, we mean it. We don't say it for the press release. We say it because we put the liquid in the glass and let it talk.
This week, it talked again.
Craft Beer & Brewing Magazine, one of the most respected voices in the industry, just reviewed Going Out on the Lash, our Irish-Style Red Ale, and scored it a 94. That's the same magazine, the same scale, and the same elite tier we hit with Jazzman earlier this year.
Here is what their editors had to say:
"Neutral malt aroma with a hint of fresh-baked bread and an understated floral and herbal top note. Dry yet engaging in the flavor with rich malt midtones that resolve quickly but very little perceptible bitterness. Lager-like in its precision."
"Lager-like in its precision." For a Red Ale. Let that sit for a second.
The beer itself walks into the room with toffee sweetness and biscuit malt, settles in like it owns the stool, and finishes so clean you're already reaching for the next sip. 5.6% ABV. 18 IBUs. The kind of beer that doesn't need to shout.
This is the second 94 we've pulled from Craft Beer & Brewing this year. Two different beers. Two different styles. Same standard. That's not a fluke. That's co-founder Elliott, Brewer Dez Jones, and Cellar Woman Keira putting in the work every single batch.
Kansas City continues to hold its own on the national stage. Shoutout to our peers at BKS Artisan Ales, Strange Days Brewing Co., and Boulevard for also pulling massive scores. The city's liquid is speaking for itself right now, and we're proud to hold it down from 18th & Vine.
We've always said that culture is our foundation, but the beer is our vehicle. Going Out on the Lash is more proof that what comes out of this building can stand with anything in the country.
Pull up and taste a 94.
Cheers,
Kemet Coleman
