Opal Reign: a white sangria ale built for show nights in Kansas City

On 18th & Vine, the best nights don’t just live on a timeline — they live in the room. Opal Reign is our attempt to pour that feeling into a glass.

Opal Reign is a white sangria–inspired ale brewed in collaboration with Kansas City rapper The Royal Chief. Think white grape, tangerine, lemon, and lime over a clean, easy-drinking base. It’s bright, layered, and refreshing, built to ride with music, conversation, and a room full of people who actually showed up.

We’re tapping Opal Reign for the first time on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Vine Street Brewing (2010 Vine Street) with a combined beer release, listening party, and single release for The Royal Chief.

Why Opal Reign exists

This beer started with a simple idea: if we’re going to keep saying Kansas City is a City of Music, the bar top needs to carry that same story.

Vine Street Brewing sits in the historic 18th & Vine district. The Royal Chief has been building his catalog and audience across that same city map. Opal Reign is where those lanes meet — a collaboration that ties KC hip‑hop directly to KC beer, brewed in a neighborhood that has always held our music.

In The Royal Chief’s own words:

“Opal Reign is proof that artists can build beyond one lane. This is about ownership, storytelling, and creating something that lives in real life not just online.”

What it tastes like

Opal Reign takes the comfort of a white sangria and runs it through a Wheat State lens:

  • Fruit profile: white grape, tangerine, lemon, and lime.

  • Body: light, clean, and easy to drink more than one.

  • Finish: crisp and refreshing, not heavy or syrupy.

It’s a bridge beer — something wine‑curious guests, cocktail people, and beer‑first regulars can all meet in the middle on. If you like fruit, brightness, and a clean finish, this one is built for you.

Release night: beer, music, and a room that feels like KC

Opal Reign will debut at Vine Street on February 12, 2026.

The plan for that night is simple:

  • Tap Opal Reign for the first time in the taproom.

  • Run a listening party and single release with The Royal Chief so the music and the beer land together.

  • Keep the focus on 18th & Vine — the district, the people in the room, and the kind of night you can’t recreate in a feed.

If you’ve ever wanted to be in the room when a collaboration actually drops — not just scroll past the announcement — this is that moment.

What happens next

Opal Reign will pour first at Vine Street Brewing, with limited availability to follow. As we learn how it lives in the room — on show nights, slow afternoons, and everything in between — we’ll keep you posted on additional tappings, special events, and any future package runs.

If you want to be in the loop, keep an eye on our social channels and email list, or just make plans to be at 2010 Vine Street on February 12 when Opal Reign officially lands.

KC music and KC beer share a lot of the same DNA. Opal Reign is one more way to prove it — not just in a headline, but in an actual glass, in an actual room, on an actual night in Kansas City.
