Vine Street Brewing Co. Cheers to Kwanzaa and African Heritage with "Mkeka"
Kansas City, MO – 12/15/2023 – Vine Street Brewing Co., Kansas City's brewing trailblazer, unveils Mkeka, a collaboration beer brimming with Kwanzaa spirit and celebrating African heritage in every sip.
Mkeka (pronounced em-KEH-kah), echoing the Swahili word for "first," embodies Kwanzaa's opening principle: Unity. This collaboration blends Vine Street's brewing artistry with Beer is Art, a South African non-profit championing beer education and entrepreneurial opportunities for young adults.
Obakeng Malope, Beer is Art's founder, passionately states, "Vine Street uses beer to celebrate their Black or African heritage. We are Africans, and we are Black. We are brothers and sisters with you guys." This partnership showcases beer's power to connect cultures and share African history in a unique way.
Mkeka, an American Pilsner coming in at 5.3%, masterfully blends tradition and innovation. Each sip offers a harmonious dance of cultural richness, making it more than just a beverage – it's a journey through heritage.
"Kwanzaa is a time of reflection, unity, and community," says Elliott Ivory, Vine Street founder. "Mkeka embodies these principles, providing not only a delightful beer but also a way to connect with the rich tapestry of African culture during this festive season."
Raise a glass of Mkeka, available in cans now and on draft next week at the Vine Street Brewing Co. taproom at 2010 Vine Street, Kansas City, MO 64108. Celebrate Kwanzaa with every sip, experiencing unity, culture, and heritage in a delicious way!
