The Lady of the Vines: New Art at Vine Street

There is a new face looking out over the brewhouse.

If you have visited recently, you might have noticed a massive splash of blue sky, green hills, and deep roots wrapping around the mezzanine. We partnered with local artist Kalena Shoman and her company DuckStu to bring some fresh life to the walls. We gave her creative control with a few guardrails, and she delivered something that speaks directly to the soul of this brewery.

She calls the piece The Lady of the Vines.

"She's a reminder that we all come from the same soil, regardless of our backgrounds," Kalena shared. "Like the vines that grow and intertwine, our lives are connected through shared experiences, culture and community."

That message hits home for us. Kalena gets exactly what this building is about. When she brought The Lady of the Vines to life, it took real bravery—working around a staircase and painting sections of the wall impossible to reach without a ladder.

It was worth the effort, because the space she was painting on is significant. The hole she framed overlooking the brewhouse is where, rumor has it, the old Vine Street streetcar fell through the floor. We left it open intentionally so folks could look down into the brewing operation. Just like the graffiti left on the walls by urban explorers before we moved in, preserving that history and keeping the building as a community statement is important to us.

We built this brewery to be a place where different roots intertwine, and working with DuckStu to make that vision permanent was effortless. She didn't just paint a mural; she captured our shared soil.

Next time you grab a pint, take a look upstairs. Pull up, catch a vibe, and see how the roots connect.
